Most of us believe that the purpose of life is to find happiness. More so, I feel the truth is, the purpose of life is to find purpose.

What does that mean to you?

Maybe it all comes back to making a difference and a sense of self-worth. A life lived, not for self, but the benefit of others. To be useful, to be responsible, and to find significance, which as a results brings meaningfulness and happiness.

Many seek to find financial success as a motivating factor and a hope that will be the main feeling of self-worth. it should not be the only reason to work hard and strive to do your best. Finding significance in your life is all about helping others achieve their aspirations, It’s about having a sense of gratitude and fulfillment for the time you’ve spent in your life.

How to Achieve Significance?

n  Focus on Building Relationships, Not an Empire

Relationships are not something we conquer, they are a series of simple moments that are significant to those we love and serve.Remember that wealth is something that comes and goes, but people who make you feel loved and valuable—now that’s priceless.

Understand what they value, who they are and who they wish to become. How will you help them get there?  How do you want people in your life to remember you? It is those people who refer to YOU as significant in their lives and careers.

n  Learn to Identify The Simple Moments That Are Important to Others

No surprise here. It begins with listening. We need to take moments and stop thinking of ourselves all the darn time to and intentionally listen and engage into what matters to other people. (Hard for many to do, I know). Typically these may not be the big momumental tasks that we fear. People will find the simple efforts that many shrug off as mundane tasks as those that make them feel most important.

n  Know that Significance is not Based on Achievements alone

Many associate success with wealth or a title. However, there are thousands of people who are wealthy with titles but not personally successful and happy.  And while title may achieve authority in a particular job or career, it certainly does not create influence as a leader.

Success means different things to different people. What does it mean to YOU?If you want to be successful and significant, start appreciating the simple moments that you are significant in your own life and those spent with others.

Seek opportunities and don’t let them go. This way, you’ll find significance in everything.  While many of us hope to achieve significance, few realize . . . you already are.
